THE GREAT WORMWOOD

THE GREAT WORMWOOD is the first of a planned trilogy, although it stands alone as a complete adventure in its own right. It deals with Ichabod Wormwood, a sixth-grader who finds himself transplanted from his hometown in Michigan to a strange little town in central Wisconsin. The move coincides with the switch to middle school, and Ichabod finds life turned completely upside down. He gets bullied, has no friends, falls for a girl, and gets humiliated by his own mother in front of his classmates (including said girl) - all in the first couple of weeks of school.
Ichabod takes drastic action and runs away, and stumbles upon an ancient mystery. He learns of a civilization, hidden underneath our own. His curiosity gets the best of him, and he gets stuck in this mythological place, where he must fulfill an ancient prophesy before he can return to the world above.

It’s a meaty book, weighing in at around four hundred pages, and is geared toward the same audience as Harry Potter and The Hobbit. It’s also illustrated by the author throughout.
